Miko Peled
Brother of Nurit-Peled-Elhanan, hailing from a prominent Zionist family, and author of the book: The General’s Son: Journey of an Israeli in Palestine, he became a supporter of the Palestinian people after realizing that the story he had been raised on, was in fact, a lie. His grandfather was Avraham Katsnelson, a Zionist leader and a signer of the Israeli Declaration of Independence, and his father, Mattityahu Peled, was a general in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) who, after the Six-Day War, became a peace activist and a proponent of a two-state solution.
Peled advocates for a single democratic state in Israel-Palestine with equal rights for all its citizens, challenging the conventional discourse on the conflict. He criticizes the Israeli occupation, the treatment of Palestinians, and the militarization of Israeli society.
Miko Peled’s journey from a Zionist background to becoming a vocal critic of Israeli policies is detailed in his book “The General’s Son: Journey of an Israeli in Palestine,” where he recounts his transformation following several personal and historical events, including the death of his niece in a suicide bombing in Jerusalem. This tragic event propelled him to explore the Palestinian territories and engage with Palestinian people, which significantly changed his views on the conflict.
