Henry Siegman
Former national director of the American Jewish Congress, as well as Bronze Star medal, and Purple Heart recipient, has not only been highly critical of every successive Israeli government, but maintains that there has been zero genuine effort on their part to attain peace. He goes so far as to call the Oslo Accords, a “scam,” mirroring the sentiments by Avi Shlaim.
Throughout his career, Siegman has been known for his critical views on Israeli policies towards the Palestinians, advocating for a more balanced U.S. approach to the conflict. He has held various esteemed positions, including serving as a non-resident research professor at the Sir Joseph Hotung Middle East Program, School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, a Senior Fellow on the Middle East at the Council on Foreign Relations, and as the National Director of the American Jewish Congress.
Siegman’s perspectives have been shaped by his background as the son of German-Jewish refugees, which contributes to his deep engagement with Jewish identity and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
